Effect of Local Fluid Disturbance Induced by Weld Reinforcement Height on the Corrosion of a Low Alloy Steel Weld

Weld corrosion exists widely in the petrochemical industry and attracts great attention. Most research proves that weld originates from material factors introduced during welding process. However, it is noted local fluid turbulence due to reinforcement height (WRH) plays an important role non-uniform of welds flowing media. Accordingly, individual effect flow on low alloy steel was analyzed by experiments simulation this study. Electrochemical measurements morphology observation were conducted, combined with field analyses. The results showed WRH affected welds. upstream surface backflow had highest lowest rates, respectively. Interestingly, high velocity region did not have a high-corrosion rate. This effects mass transfer, charge wall shear stress. pitting also discussed view aspects above.
